Shul Bulletin - October 2013
Our Shul has begun the New year with ALL Services held in the new facility!! What a pleasure to see more than 220 People come together as we celebrated Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot! Our Shul never looked better as men, women, and children streamed in to the Main Sanctuary to be together, pray together, and celebrate the Yomim Tovim! The Chazzanim voices reverberated beautifully in the New Shul, and the Kids’ programs was attended by fifty children.

Our President, Andrew Maze masterfully presented the Yom Kippur - Yizkor Appeal, and more than seventy seven thousand dollars was pledged! All Pledges and Donations up to one hundred thousand dollars will be matched by a Benefactor, so please consider helping your Shul NOW!

We wish to thank the following Shul Members for already responding to our Shul Appeal this High Holiday Season. Mr Rick and Robin Schottenfeld, Dr Norm and Joy Einhorn, Mr Felix and Susan Amar, Mr Sol and Carin Greenspan, Dr Lev and Galina Simkhayev, Dr Dennis and Randy Sternberg, Dr Ari and Becky Green, Mr Andrew and Margo Maze, Mr Norman and Bernice Colten, Rabbi and Mrs Joseph Blizinsky, Dr and Mrs Mitchell Weiss, Mr Michael and Dr Susan Ickow, Judy Lewcowicz and Family, Ken and Phylis Chaplin, Dr Alex and Irene Shor, Dr Martin Fried, Jerry and Susan Wiener, Marcell Colmer, Renate Mesnikoff, Norman Ginsberg, Chaim and Edna Babad, Jerry and Leah Dodyk, and Rabbi Meyer Carlebach!

We also had a wonderful Simchat Torah Celebration with 60 dancing participants! A Great Kiddush was held in our Shul Hallway and everyone stayed to the end of the festivities! For the first time ever, our Gabbai - Joel Glastein auctioned several Annual Honorials in the Shabbat and YomTov Service to help support the ongoing Shul upkeep! Yasher Koach to Michael and Dr Susan Ickow for leading this auction in the right direction!

Our Shul is now beginning Monday and Thursday Shacharit Minyanim! Every Monday and Thursday at 7:00 Am (Followed by fresh-brewed coffee and Rugelach!) Yasher Koach to all out “Minyanaires’! Our President, Andrew Maze sends out an email every week, and asks people to ‘sign up’ for a commitment to come to the Sunday-Monday-Thursday and Shabbat Minyanim. To date, we haven’t missed a Minyan on all weekends!!! So, please keep up the attendance! If you wish to be included on our weekly email list, please send your email address to rabbi@waysideshul.org

Please don’t forget our weekly Torah Study Group every Wednesday at 8 PM.

And our weekly Sunday Shacharit Minyan followed by a Lavish Bagel Breakfast. All are Invited!! Special Thanks to Mrs Miriam Burr,
Phyllis and Steven Reppen, and to Dr. Martin Fried for helping purchase and prepare the lavish breakfast.

High school student and shul member Bryan Markowitz helps run a local charity, Generations Eldercare. Bryan receives donated walkers and wheelchairs, stores them in his parents’ (Charles and Meryl) basement here in Wayside, and then donates them to financially-challenged senior citizens as well as nursing home residents when their insurance will not reimburse. Bryan (and his sister Sara) are founding members of the charity. If you would like to donate medical equipment, or if you know someone in need, please contact shul President Andrew Maze, who is also a member of Generations Eldercare’s Board of Directors.
