Chabad House and Camp Gan Israel send gifts to Israeli troops with help from El Al
As the men and women of the Israeli Defense Force continue in the struggle to defend the people and Land of Israel from the evil designs of terrorism, the Jewish Community in central New Jersey has responded in its unique manner. After numerous programs, rallies, and public activities, a message was sent asking if the Israeli troops can benefit from any unique items in New Jersey. The Israeli troops responded quickly and affirmativeley. The troops requested simple toiletries, underwear, socks, and foot powder. All the campers from Camp Gan Israel- Piscataway and many friends of Chabad House-Rutgers (including members of Congregation Sons of Israel - The Shul of Wayside), purchased several hundred pounds of the needed items. Rabbi Mendy Carlebach, administrator of Chabad House, arranged the transportation immediately with EL AL Israel airlines and with EL AL Security.
This week a delegation of Camp Gan Israel campers and staff traveled to EL AL at Newark Liberty Airport to deliver the first shipment for the Israeli soldiers.
Rabbi Yosef Carlebach, Executive Director of Chabad House stated,"at this time of need, especially in the Nine Days, it is gratifying to are and feel the unity and love among the Jewish people. May this spirit of unity reach the heavens and transform these days from anguish and terror to days of peace and harmony through the imminent arrival of Moshiach!"
