January Shul Bulletin

This past month truly was a "December to Remember".Starting with Pre-Chanukah programs, including a Menorah workshop for children at the Neptune Saker Shoprite, enjoyed by over 45 youth. They hand crafted beautiful Menorahs constructed from PVC piping.

The "Jewish Women's Circle' got together to shmooze, socialize, and create "Granite Menorahs" at the JWC Menorahs and Martinis event.

There was a Pre-Chanukah Farbrengen, thank you to Jeff and Victoria Silver for hosting and sponsoring this fantastic event.  Chanukah itself saw a number of activities enjoyed by hundreds of community members.   We had the Menorah Lighting at Town Hall with the Mayor - Thank You to DJ Dan for providing festive holiday music! There was an incredible Chanukah Soiree at the Jumping Brook Country Club with comedian Steven Scott. On Shabbat Chanukah we had our annual Shabbaton, featuring guest speaker Sasson Reuven, an ex-commando from the IDF, who participated in the Raid on Entebbe.

Finally, we ended Chanukah on the Eigth night with ice skating and a Menorah Lighting at the Jersey Shore Arena in Wall NJ.

The entire Shul Family joins in sending our sincerest condolences to Jonathan Shapiro and his entire Mishpocha upon recent passing of beloved mother Mrs. Helen Shapiro, OBM.   May you, Jonathan and Lisa and Mishpocha only know of Simcha, and good tidings in the days and years ahead.

A special "Yasher Koach" - Thank You to all the Shul Members that helped in making the Minyan at Shapiro Home during the Shiva period.

A Refuah Shelaima - Get Well to Howard Walter,  Rabbi Joseph Blizinsky, and Mrs. Miriam Blizinsky.

We would like to thank Matt and Dana Alkon for donating baby changing tables in both restrooms!

We are pleased to announce to we have expanded our morning Shacharit Minyan to every single day of the week! A big thank you to all those participating, and we welcome to you to join us! If you would like to be a "Minyannaire" please contact RabbiM@waysideshul.org, or just drop by on any weekday at 7:00am or Sundays at 8:00am.

There will be a new class starting up at 9:30am on the first Sunday of every month, given by Rabbi Moshe Carlebach. A wide variety of topics on Jewish Law, the Parsha, and living a Jewish lifestyle in the modern world, will be thoroughly discussed. The class is starting this Sunday, January 6th at 9:30am with the topic "To be Imprisoned in Freedom". Please join us. See flyer below.

Our Kids in the Kitchen Program is starting for the year with the first class on Tuesday, January 8th at 4:00pm. Please note this program will take place ,thereafter, the first monday of every month until June. For more details, please the flyer below. Note that the date for the first session is incorrect in the flyer, the rest are correct.

On Thursday, January 10th, at the Township of Ocean Municipal Meeting, Jonathan Weiss and Jordan Maze will be presented with a "Lamplighter Award" from Mayor Chris Siciliano.   This is for their participation in helping light the Township Menorah throughout Chanukah.  We are so grateful to Jonathan and Jordan and to Mayor Siciliano for this acknowledgement.

On Thursday, January 17th at 7:30pm, we will be having a "Farbrengen" (Hasidic gathering) in honor of the 10th of Shevat - the day the Lubavitcher Rebbe officially accepted the leadership over Chabad. Please RSVP to Rabbim@waysideshul.org.  Location will be given upon RSVP. See Flyer Below.

We have already begun our Shabbat Youth Program, thank you to all those that have contributed to those efforts, and if you would like to participate please contact the Rabbi. The program takes place every other Shabbat. See Calendar for the dates.

To sponsor a Shul Kiddush please email RabbiM@waysideshul.org

We have switched to the “Winter” Schedule for Eastern Standard Time (EST).  Mincha Prayers on Shabbat will take place after the Kiddush at approx. 12:15pm and and Maaariv approx. 10 minutes after Shabbat ends.

And to all the wonderful Shul People who give of themselves, their time, their money, and their good will, please note that all work for the communal good is noticed and counted. Whether you attend Shul every week, month, or whether you come to a class, buy the bagels, visit someone in need, or even volunteer to water our flowers, all of the above make our Shul and Shul Family so special!

We thank the following Shul Members who have generously supported our Shul "End of Year" appeal.   Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Schiff,  Dr. and Mrs. Ari Green, Mr. and Mrs. Yossi Teichman,  Dr. and Mrs. Norman Einhorn,  Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Maze,  Howard Walter,  Mr. Jerry Zaro,  Mr. and Mrs. Norman Colten, and Michael and Dr. Susan Ickow,    May Hashem bless you and your family for all your acts of Chesed!!
